Comes from the city of Gigesa in the area of Guji, this natural process beans is cultivated in the altitude of 2,000masl. Guji itself is one of the zones in Oromia Region of Ethiopia and named after a tribe of the Oromo people. The highest point of this area is Mount Dara Tiniro. The Guji Zone was created in 2002, when the upland woredas (administrative regions) of the Borena Zone were split apart to create it. Like Yirgacheffe, coffees from Guji area were previously categorized together with coffees from Sidamo (a very wide geographical classification involving much of central-south Ethiopia). However, Guji coffees are quite distinct compared with other Yirgacheffe or Sidamo coffee. This because the people of Guji have a long tradition of coffee cultivation.
