We loved this coffee the moment we tasted it on the cupping table, and we are so happy to kick off this seasons kenyans with this delicious lot from Gathaithi farmers cooperative society.
Gathaithi F.C.S. is located at Tetu district, I60 km north of Nairobi. The washing station is wedged between the beautiful mount Kenya and the Aberdare ranges in an ideal coffee growing region.
Gathaithi Coffee Factory is blessed with red volcanic soil that brings with it all the mineral and organic goodness necessary for optimum production. Cool climatic temperatures of 16-26°C are also ideal for coffee cherry processes.
2 cropping seasons (September to January & April to July) allows Gathaithi’s farms to produce 60 tonnes of clean coffee per year. Through vigorous washed processing, the coffee undergoes 7 to 15 days of drying which involves continuous sorting and hand turning of the parchment throughout the process.
