Murray Cooper Pichinca

Not your typical Ecuadorian coffee farmer! Our first purchase from renowned photographer of Andean birds, Murray Cooper, who moved from South Africa to Northern Ecuador to become a forest ranger and pursue a new landscape for his photography. Although Murray purchased the farm over 20 years ago, he only began growing coffee in 2013. With little resources, or guidance the first harvest scored incredibly well. By tweaking fermentation times and drying practices, Murray’s persistence, effort and experimentation has resulted in an outstanding coffee. But sadly, this is Murray’s last crop. Due to high production costs and taxes plus a lack of helping hands, he’s simply not earning enough renumeration to keep producing this laborious, difficult crop at a high quality.
