This coffee was produced by the inspiring Pedro Rodriguez and his team. Three decades ago, Pedro was working as an accountant when he recognised the potential for coffee in Bolivia and decided to switch careers. He now owns and runs Agricafe, an organisation that builds long-term relationships with Bolivian specialty coffee producers, based on trust, transparency and mutual benefit.

In recent years, Agricafe has planted its own farms, to guarantee coffee supply, and to model best agricultural practices for local producers. Las Alasitas is one of these model farms, established only three years ago. This tiny micro-lot is a geisha variety coffee, which is famous for its sensitivity (the plant only thrives in certain climate conditions) and its beautifully clean, citrusy, tea-like cup profiles. It was grown 1,650 metres above sea level, at the highest point of Pedro’s farm. The geisha variety’s well-deserved reputation creates the opportunity for coffee producers to earn a higher income via quality.
